In November Regional Councillor Kathleen Anderson has been representing the South West Region and the Métis Nation of Ontario at meaningful events and gatherings across the province.
Queen’s Park – Louis Riel Day Flag Raising Ceremony
Kathleen attended the Louis Riel Day Flag Raising Ceremony at Queen’s Park, joining MNO President Margaret Froh, MNO leadership, Métis Veterans Council Honour Guard, fiddler Alicia Blore, and provincial representatives from the Conservative, NDP, and Liberal parties. The ceremony honoured the legacy of Louis Riel, reflected on Métis contributions to Canada, and included a wreath-laying and moment of silence.
Critical Minerals Summit
Kathleen participated in the Critical Minerals Summit, engaging in conversations about resource development, economic opportunity, and the importance of including Métis voices in conversations about policy, stewardship, and sustainability.

Meeting with MPP Guy Bourgouin & PCMNO Regional Councillor Alicia Brink (Region 2)
While at the legislature, Kathleen met with MPP Guy Bourgouin, Critic for Natural Resources and Forestry, and First Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy, as well as a member of the Standing Committee on the Interior. She was also joined by PCMNO Regional Councillor Alicia Brink for discussions about Métis representation, regional priorities, and advancing self-governance.
Kathleen continues to show leadership by building strong relationships, sharing Métis perspectives, and amplifying Métis voices at provincial tables.
