Some of our annual highlights include our Family Fun Day in the spring, our Early Learning and Child Care Family Camp in the summer, and our Fall Harvest gathering—all designed to celebrate Métis culture, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories.
We are proud to work alongside many valued community partners and are always open to building new relationships that support and uplift our community. If you are interested in partnering with us, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteers play an important role in everything we do. If you’re looking to get involved, give back, and be part of a welcoming and supportive community, we encourage you to reach out and explore volunteer opportunities with us.
We also welcome those who wish to support our work through donations. Whether it be financial contributions, land-based support, or harvest donations, your generosity helps us continue to grow and serve our community. Council Introduction
The Niagara Region Métis Council (NRMC) has been serving the Métis community since March 29, 2008, when the Charter was signed and the council was established. Prior to NRMC, the Welland Council (no longer active) served the surrounding community. Today, the NRMC Council is based in Thorold, near Brock University, where it continues to support Métis citizens and families across the Niagara Region.
NRMC is made up of dedicated Council members—many of whom have served the community for years, alongside others who have contributed their time and leadership in the past. Together, this continuity and shared experience have helped shape a strong, supportive, and community-driven council.
The NRMC is committed to fostering connection, culture, and community through events, initiatives, and partnerships. From family gatherings and youth activities to seasonal celebrations and cultural initiatives, the Council works to create welcoming spaces where Métis citizens can come together, share knowledge, and build lasting relationships.
Grounded in respect, collaboration, and community pride, the Niagara Region Métis Council continues to grow and evolve—guided by the voices and needs of the citizens it serves.
