Growing Community: Fruit Tree & Berry Bush Distribution

September 8, 2026

The Thames Bluewater Métis Council (TBWMC) recently hosted a fruit tree and berry bush distribution, giving Métis citizens an opportunity to bring something home to plant, nurture, and enjoy for years to come.

Made possible through a Tree Canada grant funded by Northbridge, citizens were able to choose from a variety of fruit trees, including apple, cherry, pear, plum, and nectarine, as well as blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry bushes.

ReForest London supported the initiative by providing guidance during the planning process and having a representative on site to answer citizens’ questions about planting and caring for their new trees and bushes. Van Luyk Garden Centre supplied the plants along with soil, mulch, wooden stakes, and even flowers to help support pollinators.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the initiative possible—and to the citizens who took part. We look forward to seeing these trees and bushes take root and grow in yards throughout the community!
